Betaine (trimethylglycine) is a naturally occurring amino acid derivative found in sugar beets, wheat bran, spinach, and other plants, with both natural and synthetic origins.Owing to its small, zwitterionic structure, betaine acts as an effective humectant and osmolyte, attracting and stabilizing water molecules.

As a moisturizer, betaine helps maintain the skin’s water balance, prevents cellular dehydration, and supports cell volume recovery during stress. It is gentle and well-tolerated, offering soothing, anti-irritation, and protective benefits for sensitive or compromised skin. Betaine is widespread in hydrating serums, cleansers, and skin-conditioning products.

Urea

Urea, also known as carbamide, is an organic diamide with the formula CO(NH2)2, naturally present in the skin’s natural moisturizing factor (NMF).

Argan Oil

Argan oil is a luxurious, nutrient-rich oil pressed from the kernels of Argania spinosa, native to Morocco.

Its chemical profile is dominated by unsaturated fatty acids, chiefly oleic acid (43-49%) and linoleic acid (29-36%), along with vitamin E (tocopherols), polyphenols, carotenoids, squalene, and sterols.Argan oil excels at nourishing, moisturizing, and protecting the skin’s lipid barrier.

Its fatty acids and antioxidants support hydrated, supple, and elastic skin while defending against oxidative stress, inflammation, and environmental damage.With its anti-irritant and lightweight profile, argan oil is frequently formulated in products for dry, mature, or sensitive skin and is non-comedogenic—unlikely to clog pores.

Rosehip Oil

Rosehip oil is obtained via cold-pressing the seeds of wild rose species, especially Rosa rubiginosa and Rosa canina.It boasts high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids—primarily linoleic (around 50-54%) and linolenic (about 19-20%) acids—along with oleic acid, phytosterols, and antioxidants like tocopherols, carotenoids, and phenolic compounds.

The oil’s fatty acid profile reinforces the skin’s barrier, reduces inflammation, and provides deep hydration. Unique to rosehip oil is the presence of trans-retinoic acid (a bioactive form of vitamin A) and provitamin A, which promote cellular regeneration and collagen synthesis. Borage Seed Oil
